Sarasota-based poet and novelist Piero Rivolta has been awarded a silver medal by the Florida Authors & Publishers Association, Inc. (FAPA) for his collection of verse, Just One Scent: The Rest Is God, released in a second, revised edition in 2015. FAPA honored Rivolta and his fellow winners and finalists during a banquet held Sat., Aug. 8, at Walt Disney World Resort.
Just One Scent was originally published in Italian in 1999 by the Italian publishing house Crocetti Editore, eventually selling more than 7,000 copies worldwide. An updated edition of poems in both Italian and English, with a new introduction and photographs, was published in March 2015 by Sarasota-based New Chapter Publisher. The new edition contains 22 poems and three prose pieces, which meditate on love, hope, pleasure and the mysterious aspects of life.
“This book has traveled down a long, and many times surprising, path since I first put pen to paper,” Rivolta said. “I’m honored to be able to share my thoughts and verses with new readers and I am happy that the Florida Authors & Publishers Association considered Just One Scent worthy of this recognition.”
